IDT P8300 Integrated Power Management Solution for Enterprise SSD and Computing Applications
$5.20 each in lots of 1,000
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 27, 2015 at 2:34 pmIntegrated Device Technology, Inc. introduced a multi-channel Power Management IC (PMIC) optimized for enterprise solid state drives (eSSDs) and designed to speed time to market and revenue.
The P8300 is a flexible programmable PMIC for a broad set of data center, enterprise and performance computing applications.
It can shorten time to market by enabling the reuse of power management subsystems across multiple protocols – SAS, SATA and PCIe – and form factors. Its design delivers an effective power backup system that’s been proven in the field, as well as stability proven in first-generation SSD products.
“The P8300 PMIC offers the ideal balance of cost and performance,” said Sean Fan, VP and GM, interface and connectivity division, IDT. “The new device delivers distinct advantages for companies developing products in compute-intensive spaces such as data center, enterprise computing and high-performance computing.“
The introduction of the P8300 extends company’s penetration into enterprise computing and storage applications. Other firm’s products in this space include temperature sensing, timing, memory interface and PCIe connectivity solutions.
“The end user market for eSSD products has seen rapid growth, and that growth is expected to continue for the foreseeable future,” said Jeff Janukowicz, VP, research, SSDs and enabling technologies, IDC. “It’s a highly competitive space, and vendors who can demonstrate differentiated value could reap significant benefits by gaining a foothold in the eSSD market.“
Key features of P8300 include:
-
Dual inputs (3.3V/5V and 12V) that support PCIe, SATA, and SAS interfaces for multiple form factors and applications
-
An integrated 35V-compliant power backup system for mission-critical data center applications
-
Six buck regulators, two of which can act as buck controllers to drive external FETs for higher power applications
-
A buck-boost regulator for end applications including power backup systems.
The P8300 is sampling. It will be available in a 7x7mm TQFN-56 package at a cost of $5.20 each in lots of 1,000.
