UltraBac v10 Backup and DR Introduces Choose Your Cloud and Client-Side Deduplication

UltraBac Software announced the launch of UltraBac and UBDR Gold version 10 with BDR options.

UltraBac v10 offers a flexible cloud device that gives users the ability to choose their own cloud storage solution from major cloud providers. First, create an account directly with Amazon S3, Microsoft Azure, Google, HP Helion, Rackspace, or OpenStack. Next, license the UltraBac Cloud Device, set the backup path, and then schedule or run ad-hoc backups to your provider of choice. Since OpenStack is open source, users also have a number of commercial alternatives, including the ability to implement a private in-house cloud at little to no cost.

Another major addition to v10 is client-side deduplication for Single Instance Storage (SIS). SIS stores common files and/or blocks, so instead of backing up duplicate data from every protected machine, for every backup, Company’s deduplication server only stores one copy (based on user defined parameters). Client-side deduplication enables faster backups that use less network bandwidth and storage resources. Deduplication can also be implemented in product’s optional agents for Exchange, SQL, vSphere, and Hyper-V. Company’s deduplication option provides local SIS for speed, cloud SIS for off-site redundancy, and a hybrid SIS model offering both local and cloud storage for the best of both worlds.

Users of the UltraBac vSphere Agent can backup and restore non-Windows VMs. In the event of a failure, users can restore whole VMs with all configuration settings. For the enterprise, a utility automates the process of a mass VM migration to an off-site, standby datacenter should a disaster require such an operation.

UltraBac and UBDR Gold v10 for advanced data protection:

• Cloud Device: A connectivity device for servers and workstations to store backups on the major cloud provider of choice (Amazon S3, Google, HP Helion, Microsoft Azure, OpenStack, or Rackspace).

• Deduplication option: Implement file-level, block-level, or both, depending on which deduplication scheme works best for your environment. Store common files and/or blocks locally, in the cloud, or both.

• vSphere Agent: Support for vMotion and vCenter Server 6.0, as well as the ability to backup and restore non-Windows Vms.

• Support: for Windows 10 and Exchange 2016, along with advanced support of Windows Server 2016 Preview and SQL Server 2016. Backup to literally any device (e.g. cloud, tape, all disk types, SAN, NAS, UNC, tape and virtual libraries, FTP/SFTP, and TSM).
