IBM Transparent Data Migration Facility for z/OS (TDMF z/OS) is offered by IBM System Storage. It is for migrating data onto new IBM Storage, including DS8870, without being limited by the storage vendor.
The TDMF z/OS solution enables nondisruptive, volume-based, heterogeneous storage migrations with continuous transparent access to all applications and data.
It contains enhancements designed to improve data migration experience. These enhancements include an increase in the volume pairs per session, IPv6 and USGv6 support, migrated terabyte reports, volume swapping improvements, TSO monitor improvements for large consistency group migrations, GDPS xDR support on z/OS, optimized TDMF z/OS storage manager support for 64 bit, diagnostic trace improvements, and I/O pacing improvements.
IBM Services continue to remain available to assist in performing the data migration planning and performance of data migration projects.
As a standard practice for TDMF z/OS, the current version and one previous version are supported. After the release of V5.6, support will be ended for TDMF V5.4. The effective date for TDMF z/OS V5.4 end of support is September 30, 2016.
