PerfAccel 3.0 marks a milestone in the evolution of company’s software only solution, extending the company’s lead in application I/O analytics and optimization.

The company demonstrated PerfAccel 3.0 at the NetApp Insights show in Las Vegas, NV.

Next generation data center architecture leverages powerful Intel-based servers with their PCIe and NVMe-based fast storage capability for lowest latency and the highest throughput. With this release, company’s customers, using PerfAccel’s deep analytics capability, can make intelligent purchase decisions and balance their need for Intel servers and flash storage across all tiers – host servers, network servers, or storage servers.

With the introduction of PerfAccel 3.0, the platform has received upgrades in the areas of application I/O analytics, predictive analytics, faster root-cause analysis, a new advanced GUI, better usability, and support for newer applications and operating environments. PerfAccel 3.0 delivers a set of enterprise-grade features that make it the only solution that packs the power of real-time reporting and application-aware analytics with a software-defined approach that removes the need to rip-and-replace.

Datagres takes an innovative approach to application-centric storage that is industry-disruptive yet non-disruptive for customers,” said Ashish Nadkarni, program director, IDC. “As data center boundaries get redrawn, Datagres is shifting the burden of performance optimization from the storage subsystem to the host layer. Enabled by application-aware analytics of the host I/O stack, companies like Datagres can deliver fantastic service quality in mission critical environments at a fraction of the cost

Enterprise storage is experiencing a period of great transformation with the adoption of new storage orchestration software and non-volatile memory technologies,” said Bev Crair, VP, data center group and GM, storage group, Intel Corporation. “Customers can use solutions like those demonstrated by Datagres software to start or expand their use of these advancements at the speed of the market, and leverage the performance and features of the Intel architecture.

The application-aware analytics in PerfAccel 3.0 drives higher visibility and deeper application correlation,” said Ranajit Nevatia, president and CEO, Datagres. “This new release extends our leadership in I/O analytics and empowers DevOps and data center managers to be intelligent and efficient about their application performance needs.

PerfAccel is a software-only solution that brings complete visibility of applications’ connectivity to data with ability to analyze I/O patterns, usage, and performance characteristics at scale and depth. With PerfAccel 3.0, Datagres has redefined the ease of management and the breadth of deployment for server-based operational storage intelligence.

  • Better visibility with application analytics: PerfAccel is an application I/O solution that provides data analytics to increase application performance visibility. The software solution operates at the file level, providing a new kind of performance analytics that enables IT administrators to achieve very prescriptive movements of data for maximum control. With PerfAccel 3.0, customers can now gather meaningful insights associated with I/O patterns of specific application processes or sessions. Access pattern correlation at various levels of granularity can be delivered per application class for instant problem remediation

  • Design and purchase decisions with predictive analytics: This release gives customers the ability to run PerfAccel to understand changing application behavior over time without additional hardware. It identifies working data sets and provides real-time and historic trend analysis to predict future capacity and performance-related outcomes. Customers can use the data to perform what-if analysis and make the right hardware investments.

  • GUI with scale and ease of use: PerfAccel 3.0 centralized management node provides a single pane of glass view and manages multiple client nodes for installation and global policy enforcement. It provides visibility of application connectivity to data for orchestrating and troubleshooting the entire grid. With the 3.0 release, the management node scales to thousands of clients. The release also adds flexible deployment enhancements to the license administration to support floating licenses for dynamically changing data center environments. The REST API-enabled management server is fast and extensible, with the ability to observe real-time graphs and in-depth reporting.

  • Support for AutoFS: For customers who use AutoFS to dynamically mount and unmount data that is used by applications, the newly built AutoFS support helps measure I/O analytics in a seamless manner by taking care of the right set of data under the AutoFS. Additionally, there are benefits achieved from aggregating the rich analytics to identify I/O patterns across a large number of mounts.

  • Broadened support matrix: PerfAccel is now available across a large spectrum of platforms, both virtual and physical. Support for all the major Linux distributions is available – this release further adds support for Red Hat 7.x as well as Ubuntu 14.x. In addition, with this release support for XFS was added to round up all major file systems (ext3, ext4, and nfs3). Furthermore, PerfAccel 3.0 adds support for KVM and OpenStack, giving administrators tremendous flexibility in their deployment options.

PerfAccel 3.0 is in beta with select customers, and is expected to have availability by this mid-quarter.
