Announced last month at Box’s annual customer conference, BoxWorks, the new Box Platform offerings – Enterprise and Developer – enable developers and enterprise customers to create custom apps to transform business and bring new experiences to their extended ecosystems.
“The opportunity for customers to lead their industries has never been greater,” said Jeetu Patel, SVP of platform and chief strategy officer, Box. “As companies move to create better digital experiences for their extended ecosystem of customers, suppliers and partners, Box Platform will power the content in those experiences so customers can focus on their core competency.”
Starting today, Box customers, developers and partners can start building on the Box Platform, leveraging the underlying technology that powers Box directly in their own custom applications. Anyone building on the Box Platform can take advantage of enterprise-grade features including encryption services, security certifications, sharing and permission models, and metadata. Enterprise and developer offerings include a customer or developer-owned Box instance and a new user model, called App Users, that authenticates with Box in a way that is completely transparent to the user.
Box Platform Enterprise starts at $500 per month and includes 100 app users with storage and bandwidth. The Enterprise plan can scale to support millions of app users on a single application and is designed for enterprise customers building apps that are available and in production. Box Platform Developer is free and includes 25 appp users with storage and bandwidth, allowing customers and developers to test and design their app experience.
Customers including General Electric, CAA, Schneider Electric, Eli Lilly and FICO are building on Box to create new ways to connect with their customers, partners and suppliers.
In financial services, the Box Platform can be used to create a secure place where advisors and clients can connect and review important financial information. Retailers can build applications on the Box Platform that will connect them with their suppliers to share information across their supply chain. In healthcare, the Box Platform can serve as the backbone of a patient portal, enabling providers and patients to connect around critical patient information.
