Veritas NetBackup With Support for Amazon S3 Standard-Infrequent Access

Veritas Technologies LLC announced that NetBackup, an enterprise data protection solution, will provide full support for Amazon Simple Storage Service Standard-Infrequent Access (S3 Standard-IA).

A NetBackup 7.7.1 upgrade will provide enterprise businesses with an expanded backup and recovery choice for Amazon Web Services (AWS), and is the latest example of Veritas’ dedication to public and hybrid cloud architectures.

In September, AWS, a global leader in cloud computing services, announced its new S3 Standard-IA storage service. This offering provides customers with a new and easy method to archive data, and provides fast service levels. NetBackup 7.7.1 provides backup and recovery integration, offering current AWS customers high service levels for the recovery of archived data on AWS.

Additionally, Veritas announced that it is enhancing existing NetBackup support for the AWS GovCloud (US) Region, an isolated AWS Region designed to allow US government agencies and customers to move sensitive workloads into the cloud by addressing their specific regulatory and compliance requirements. With NetBackup 7.7.1, the company extends support to the AWS Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) region, enabling users of this secure cloud service to leverage the Veritas market-leading enterprise backup solution for the first time.

NetBackup 7.7.1 update is available for current customers.
