EMC Certifies PoINT Storage Manager for Data Domain, Said Euroson America

Euroson America, Inc., the North American distribution partner for PoINT Software & Systems GmbH, announces that PoINT Storage Manager Version 5.1 has completed the EMC certification process for its integration and support of EMC Data Domain as an Archive Tier storage device within the PoINT Multi-Tiered Storage Architecture.

Certification of Data Domain as archive device adds an additional storage system to the growing list of data devices supported within the PoINT Software Tiered Storage Architecture. Integration of PoINT Storage Manager and Data Domain provides a certified solution to customers which offloads inactive data from primary storage systems and fulfills archiving requirements.

The connector within PoINT Storage Manager was developed to capitalize on the special functions and advantages of Data Domain. PoINT Storage Manager archives data into ‘Archive Volumes’ (container files in standardized format) which optimize the use of the compression and de-duplication functions of Data Domain. Parallel transfer of multiple archive volumes to Data Domain allows system performance to be increased. Multi-tenancy configurations and Data Domain retention functionality (‘RL-Governance’ and ‘RL-Compliance’) are supported. Data integrity is guaranteed by a verification of every stage of the data-flow. A configurable cache mechanism optimizes the performance of the complete system during read operations.
