Emory University Assigned Patent

Computer readable storage media storing instructions for automatically segmenting images of region of interest

Emory University, Atlanta, GA, has been assigned a patent (9,142,030) developed by Fei, Baowei, and Qin, Xulei, Atlanta, GA, for a “systems, methods and computer readable storage media storing instructions for automatically segmenting images of a region of interest.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media relate to segmenting an image series of at least one image of a region of interest of a subject. The methods, systems, and computer readable storage media can automatically segment interior and exterior boundaries relative to the region of interest, (e.g., epicardial and endocardial boundaries with respect to a right ventricle) from an image series by combining sparse matrix transform, a training model, and a localized region based level set function.“

The patent application was filed on March 13, 2014 (14/208,659).
