EMC (DSSD) Discreetly Acquired Graphite Systems
Stealthy start-up in flash array using NVMe
By Jean Jacques Maleval | October 5, 2015 at 2:33 pmOn Linkedin, we learned that DSSD, developer of server-side flash storage and acquired by EMC last year, has discreetly acquired last August stealthy start-up Graphite Systems Inc., supposed to be involved in high performance flash array based converged big data appliance using NVMe.
Private-held Graphite, born in 2012 in Mountain View, got $1.5 million funding round in May 2012.
Chairman and CEO was Pete Foley formerly VP of Citrix Sysyems. CTO and founder Frederic Roy Carlson, previously chairman and CTO of TeleMnim, was many years ago VP of Maxtor. Now VP hardware engineering at DSSD, Kevin Rowett was director, systems hardware engineering and then VP hardware and manufacturing at Graphite after more than three years as VP hardware and manufacturing for Violin Memory.
