Zetta.net Performs Cloud Backup “6X Faster” Than Microsoft Azure For Full Backupss

And "17X faster" for incremental backup

Zetta.net (Zetta, Inc.) announced findings from a Mediatronics product review which revealed that Zetta.net is 6X faster for full backups and 17X faster for incremental backups than Microsoft Corporation‘s Azure Cloud Backup.

The benchmark review discusses the complexity of the Azure pricing model which makes it cost restrictive, in addition to its limitation in protecting more than 500GB within a typical 12-hour backup window.

The ability to backup systems within the allotted backup window is critical to meet our clients’ backup demands,” said John J. Pizzo, III, CPA, partner, Grossberg company LLP, a Zetta.net partner. “Zetta.net’s DataProtect delivers superior speed and features, and coupled with its simple, straight forward pricing, it’s a better choice to offer our clients.

In the test, an initial backup of 490GB of data was made to the cloud. Following this, 5% (approximately 25GB) of data was changed, then a second incremental backup was made for both services.

This produced the following results:

  • Company’s DataProtect performed the full backup in two hours, 56 minutes and the incremental backup in one hour, seven minutes

  • Azure Cloud Backup performed the full backup in 18 hours, five minutes and the incremental backup in 17 hours, 25 minutes

Enterprises with very large datasets require speed and performance to move data over the network,” said Gary Sevounts, CMO, Zetta.net. “At Zetta.net, we’ve optimized our cloud backup solution for datasets over 1TB so that backing up data is fast and reliable. And, just as we’ve built efficiencies in our backup process, we’ve also eliminated pricing complexity so users know exactly what to expect.
