Connected Data Distributed by immixGroup in North America

To deliver private cloud file sync and share to government sector

Connected Data, Inc. has signed a North American distributor agreement with immixGroup, Inc., in the public sector technology marketplace and acquired by Arrow Electronics in March 2015.

Under terms of the agreement, the two companies will work together to deliver Connected Data’s Transporter, private cloud file sync and share (FSS) solutions to local, state and federal institutions across the country. In doing so, these government agencies will be able to better protect, access and share their oftentimes confidential files, while eliminating the inherent risks of public cloud solutions, as well as the public cloud’s escalating costs.

Connected Data Transporter is well suited to meet state, local and federal FSS requirements,” said Terri McClure, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “As a private onsite device, Transporter delivers complete data control, allowing confidential information to be accessed and shared securely from anywhere in the world while data stays on premises and under agency control. Since each individual public agency must remain vigilant in how tax dollars are spent, the ability to eliminate the public clouds reoccurring fees and scaling the solution without fee escalation are a big plus.

Protecting, accessing, and sharing confidential files creates challenges for government agencies of all sizes. Data loss or accidental exposure of confidential information can be disastrous-especially when dealing with public security and confidentiality. And, as public cloud storage fails to provide control over the location of data, and sits outside the firewalls, it consequently fails to meet many compliance regulations and guidelines. In addition to security and cost, the Transporter also improves storage efficiency.

Connected Data’s Transporter for Business was credited with saving 400 man hours per year for Yancey County, NC, by delivering compliant access, sharing, and protection of critical files. In addition to reducing the hours spent on IT support, the county began enjoying improved storage efficiency-as well as a boost in overall file access performance.

The Transporter appliance provides immixGroup with an opportunity to enhance its trusted advisor status with its government accounts and partners – further demonstrating its commitment to meeting this market’s unique requirements,” said Russ Johnson, COO, Connected Data. “While the Transporter is indeed a perfect fit to meet its requirements, the government sector requires a sophisticated understanding of how best to conduct business – an understanding that the immixGroup has mastered, together with a hard-earned and well-deserved level of trust.

Connected Data is well positioned to serve government customers with its Transporter family of private cloud appliances. Transporter is the 100% private alternative to public cloud solutions for sharing and accessing large files for government organizations, offering military-grade encryption (AES-256) for files during transfer and helping to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data. Free from the risk and cost of public cloud-based solutions, Transporter appliances keep data safe and secure within an organization’s own firewall while eliminating the expense of cloud subscription fees. The resulting solution is more private and also higher performing than cloud-based file sharing services, while offering government users both enterprise redundancy and failover for security and reliability.
