Altaro Released VM Backup v6 Software

Formerly known as Hyper-V Backup, the product enables administrators to backup VMs on both Hyper-V and VMware hypervisors, all from within the same application.

Along with several improvements made in terms of performance, the product offers full feature parity on both hypervisors: All functionality within the product is available for backups and restores on both Hyper-V and VMware. Despite all the additions in VM Backup, pricing remains unchanged, offering value.

Besides the addition of VMware support, VM Backup has also seen the addition of a Central Management Console. Having the ability to manage backup and restore jobs across all Hyper-V and/or VMware hosts present in an environment means the product is a more scalable solution that also performs well in larger environments.

VM Backup is available in three editions:

• Standard edition ($395/€325/£255): Most functionality with protection of up to five VMms

• Unlimited edition ($585/€495/£390): All functionality for an unlimited number of VMs and supports clusters

• Free edition: Protects up to two VMs and is offered as freeware
