Lenovo System x With New 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SAS and SATA HDDs

Lenovo System x family of SAS and SATA drives adds new 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch drives, offering high-density solutions for optimizing storage and data management.

The Lenovo System x storage portfolio is enhanced
by the addition of new drives:

• 2.5-inch 1TB and 2TB 7,200 rpm 6Gb NL SATA and 12Gb NL SAS G3HS HDDs
• 2.5-inch 300GB, 600GB, 900GB, 1.2TB 10,000rpm 12Gb SAS HDDs and SEDs
• 2.5-inch 300GB, 600GB 15,000rpm 12Gb SAS HDDs
• 3.5-inch 300GB, 600GB 15,000rpm 12Gb SAS HDDs
• 2.5-inch 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, 960GB Enterprise Entry SATA SSDs
• 2.5-inch 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, 800GB Enterprise Value SATA G3HS SSD
• 2.5-inch 480GB Enterprise Mainstream Plus SATA SSD
• 3.5-inch 120GB, 240GB, 480GB, 960GB Enterprise Entry SATA SSDs

These drives can provide the performance required for extensive storage capacity; several new models also provide the flexibility of hot-swap or simple-swap versions. All NL SAS and SATA HDDs, SEDs, and SSDs are RoHS compliant.

The new Lenovo System x HDD, SED, and SSD features include:

• 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factor storage capacity for several new drives
• NL SATA drive-to-host interface supports up to 6Gb/s burst rate.
• SAS drive-to-host interface supports up to12 Gb/s burst rate.
• Hot-swap and simple-swap versions of the NL SATA 2.5-inch HDDs and hot-swap version of the SAS and 3NL SAS 2.5-inch HDDs are available along with the SATA SSD and SAS SED drives.
• The 7,200rpm HDDs deliver NL SAS and SATA device reliability and largest capacity performance in the HDD family.
• Software utilities allow for S.M.A.R.T. to alert of certain impending drive failures so that replacements can be made.
• One-year warranty is included.
• For optimal performance with 512e drives, the host system software stack must be 512e aware.
