Lenovo and StorMagic Together for Hyperconverged SDS for SMBs
Available from Arrow Electronics and starting at $5,000
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 27, 2015 at 2:15 pmLenovo Enterprise Solutions, Pte Ltd and StorMagic, Inc. announced hyperconverged solutions for remote-office/branch office (ROBO) markets available through Arrow Electronics, Inc.
The solutions are for SMBs and distributed enterprise customers, providing highly available, reliable virtual infrastructure that fits their requirements for a simple and reliable bundled solution that can be tailored to specific environments.
“Lenovo is recognized as a leader in the x86 server and storage market and is excited to continue to bring market value to our clients through our relationship with hyperconverged firms like StorMagic,” said Brian Hamel, VP and GM, Lenovo North America enterprise business group. “By partnering with Lenovo and leveraging our broad portfolio of x86 systems, StorMagic and its advanced SvSAN virtual storage capabilities is well positioned to provide remote office/branch office clients and small business customers alike a compelling combination of cutting-edge performance and field-proven reliability.“
The new hyperconverged Solution from StorMagic and Lenovo leverages Lenovo’s portfolio of enterprise servers, including the entry-level 1U ThinkServer RS140 and System x3250 M5, as well as the 2U ThinkServer RD650, to offer customers a reliable, scalable option for every environment. Added to these servers is StorMagic’s SvSAN SDS platform, which enables enterprises to eliminate downtime of business critical applications through virtualized shared storage. Starting at $5,000, this reliable solution delivers a cost effective and highly available environment for retail, banking, education and hospitality customers with multi-site offices.
With a two-server configuration equipped with SvSAN, the solution enables a lower cost-of-entry into shared storage in virtualized environments. The solution also delivers up to a 40% decrease in TCO through reduced power, cooling and maintenance costs and a minimized need for dedicated IT resources. Customers also gain greater flexibility: both SvSAN and Lenovo’s servers are scalable as storage needs grow and can support multiple hypervisor platforms to streamline integration into existing infrastructure. The hyper-converged solution also provides a standardized management interface that allows multiple two-server shared storage bundles to be managed and provisioned either locally, or remotely, from a central location.
“SMBs and organizations with multiple sites require affordable infrastructure that provides HA in a small, durable footprint and remote management capabilities,” said Hans O’Sullivan, CEO, StorMagic. “Historically, those requirements were contradictory and difficult to realize. StorMagic’s partnership with Lenovo eliminates the need for complex SANs and drives down the cost of hyperconverged solutions that underpin an enterprise, highly available IT infrastructure.“
The hyperconverged Solution from StorMagic and Lenovo is available in North America starting at $5,000 and currently distributed through Arrow Electronics.
