SK Hynix Inc. announced financial results for its second quarter 2015 ended June 30, 2015.
The company posted the consolidated second quarter revenue of 4.6 trillion won decreased 4% from 4.8 trillion won of the previous quarter due to declined PC demand.
However, year-on-year the revenue rose 18% as well as operating profit totaled 1.38 trillion won increased 27% thanks to steady demand for server and mobile applications.
Net income amounted to 1.1 trillion won with net margin of 24% reflecting income tax expenses.
Over the previous quarter, DRAM and NAND flash bit shipment increased 4% and 8% but the average selling price slipped 8% and 6% respectively.
SK Hynix is planning to expand the proportion of DDR4 and LPDDR4 to meet rising demand of those DRAM interfaces. Meanwhile, the portion of DDR3 will be reduced.
For NAND Flash, SK Hynix will increase the production ratio of 1Xnm TLC and develop 36-layer 3D NAND flash to gear up for small-scale mass production of it within the third quarter.
Plus, the company will complete the development of 48-layer TLC 3D NAND Flash within this year to prepare for its adoption in NAND solutions including SSD to meet with upcoming market demand of 3D NAND.
