Network and storage solutions for Linux containers
Products description
The problem is that Linux containers are great for dividing the CPU/memory resources on individual servers between several containers, but managing the networking and storage configurations needed to run more than a few containers on more than a few servers remains complex. Datawise.io wants to simplify moving Docker, riding a huge wave of hype, into production.
Project 6 is a software to deploy and manage Docker containers across a cluster of hosts, focused on simplifying on-premises environments. It integrates Docker and Kubernetes with additional capabilities into a solution that helps pack stateless and stateful applications onto the same environment with:
Highly-available cluster management, to aggregate resources
and coordinate operations across multiple hosts
- Simplified networking, so that containers maintain distinct IP network identities independently from hosts, and can easily locate each other
- Persistent and temporary storage volumes, to make efficient use of local disks and minimize the need for external storage
- Dynamic scheduling augmented with network and storage, so that resources available are efficiently utilized with minimal administration
The Project 6 preview, available for download, makes it easy to set-up a private environment similar to Google’s Container Engine or Amazon’s Container Service.
