Made from solid zinc and weighing just 58 grams, the Micro SSD is twice as fast as a standard USB 3.0 drive, twenty times faster than a USB 2.0 drive and holds up to a terabyte of data in a package no bigger than a credit card.

For Apple’s newly-released Retina MacBook, Google’s updated Chromebook Pixel, the Micro SSD embraces the future by shipping with USB Type-C as standard.

Yameen Malik, creator Micro SSD, Axtremex, says: “As soon as I saw USB 3.1 Type-C I knew it was the future. Rather than just waiting for someone else to create a product I wanted now, I took matters into my own hands and built the Micro SSD for me. Hopefully with this indiegogo campaign everyone else will get to enjoy this technology too.
