Lenovo SAN Arrays for SMBs
2U, 12 and 24 drive configurations
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 3, 2015 at 2:23 pmLenovo Group Ltd. announced two SAN offerings, the S2200 and S3200 storage arrays.
Lenovo S2200
Designed for simplicity, speed, scalability and availability, these feature-rich arrays integrate into any network environment. Lenovo delivers enterprise SAN offerings loaded with storage innovations at an affordable entry-level price point. These systems support demanding workloads while painlessly and economically jump-starting the transition to flash technology.
The high rate of data growth, flat or shrinking IT budgets and limited IT resources with a lack of storage expertise can make it difficult for any business to respond to increased expectations. Lenovo responds to these and other business challenges with new storage arrays that simplify management and provide advanced functionality all at an affordable price.
Lenovo S3200
Business-optimized to support growing business needs
The S2200 and S3200 gives businesses simplified data management for a variety of applications, ranging from general purpose web serving and data management/analytics that require high IO/s, to video surveillance and streaming workloads that need high throughput. These storage arrays offer dual and single controllers in 2U, 12 and 24 drive configurations. The S2200 supports up to 96 drives and the S3200 supports up to 192 drives to easily support storage growth. The S2200 and S3200 support FC, iSCSI and SAS, with the S3200 supporting multi-protocol connectivity that can work with FC and iSCSI at the same time. This combination of flexibility and scalability makes integration into nearly any environment easy.
Eeffective transitions to flash cost
The S2200 and S3200 deliver Intelligent Real-Time Tiering, which automatically moves frequently accessed data to higher performing drives every fives, increasing storage performance. With hybrid configurations and Intelligent Real-Time Tiering, the S3200 can provide near All-Flash-Array (AFA) performance for up to 120,000 IO/s at a fraction of the cost of today’s flash only systems.
Functionality meets affordability
Every S2200 and S3200 comes with SAN Manager. This intuitive GUI provides features at no extra charge including:
-
Data tiering – automatically moves data between storage layers increasing overall storage performance
-
Thin provisioning – helps customers purchase only the storage needed for operations,
-
SSD read caching – enables priority access to ‘hot’ data accelerating read performance
-
Rapid RAID rebuild – minimizes recovery time and risk factors with rapid data restoration
-
Snapshot – provides point-in-time copies of live data, eliminating the need for restore and performance hits
-
Storage pooling – virtualizes storage across multiple drive types improving IO by up to 2.5x without impacting applications
In addition to redundant power, hot-swappable fans and drives, Lenovo built these systems for 99.999% availability, multi-pathing, and in-chassis controller upgrades without the need for data migrations or extended downtime. Storage that is simple to deploy and to manage is accessible to businesses and budgets of all sizes.
“Today we are introducing a new standard for SAN,” said Jay Parker, SVP, enterprise business group, Lenovo. “The new Lenovo S2200 and S3200 storage offerings highlight our extreme focus on affordable innovation. This further extends Lenovo’s ability to be your one-stop-shop from PCs to DCs.”
The S2200 and S3200 SAN offerings will be available worldwide starting in June 2015.
Products may only be available in selected markets.
