Idealstor Scales Backup System With 8TB Removable Media Cartridge

Idealstor LLC announced the release of its 8TB removable disk cartridge for use with their line of removable disk backup systems.

This capacity disk can be used with backup systems using SAS Interface and offer a 2TB increase in storage capacity per removable drive bay from previous capacities.

Idealstor manufactures removable disk backup systems that are designed to replace tape backup. Systems range in capacity from one removable drive up to eight. This 8TB SATA disk brings the max capacity of the Idealstor backup system up to a total of 64TB of RAW storage.

Unlike most disk-to-disk backup systems on the market today that are designed for storing data like NAS, SAN or RAID systems, the company uses a combination of hardware and software to make the disks ejectable so they can be used for off-site storage of data and for DR. The company’s media is unique in the removable disk market in that they utilize non-proprietary 3.5-inch SATA drives as backup media. This helps keep the TCO down for companies of all sizes.

The 8TB removable disk cartridges are available for purchase fully formatted for $599.
