Hitachi Assigned Two Patents

Information system, recording optical information in hologram

Information system, host system and access control method
Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (8,996,908) developed by Nishino, Ryota, Ooyama, Kazuhiro, and Kadoiri, Satoshi, Tokyo, Japan, for a “information system, host system and access control method.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”A first SS, (storage system) provides a first SA, storage area, a second SS provides a second SA, and first and second HSs, (host systems) are coupled to the first and second SSs. First and second paths connect the first HS to the first and second SAs. Third and fourth paths connect the second HS to the first and second SAs. When the first path has a higher priority than the second path after recovery where a WR, (write request) is permitted to be transmitted to the first SS, if the first SA which is a write destination for the received WR is a target in a data mirroring process, the first SS transmits a notification to stop the process. The second SS performs control such that a WR specifying the second SA as a write destination fails, and then the second HS transmits the WR using the third path.

The patent application was filed on September 30, 2013 (14/343,347).

Recording optical information in hologram
Hitachi Consumer Electronics Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (8,995,245) developed by Nakamura, Yusuke, Ebina, Japan, and Ishii, Toshiki, Yokohama, Japan, for a “apparatus for recording optical information in a hologram, apparatus for reproducing optical information stored in a hologram, and a method for recording optical information in, or reproducing optical information from, a hologram.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”The above-described problem can be solved by the following optical-information reproducing apparatus: An optical-information reproducing apparatus for reproducing a hologram storage medium into which an interference pattern is recorded as a hologram, the interference pattern being formed by causing a reference beam and a signal beam to interfere with each other, the optical-information reproducing apparatus, including an optical detector for detecting a reproduced beam, the reproduced beam being acquired by illuminating the recorded hologram with the reference beam, an optical element for generating a first reference beam and a second reference beam by branching the reference beam, a wavefront detector for detecting wavefront aberration of the reference beam by causing the first reference beam and the second reference beam to interfere with each other, and a wavefront compensator for compensating the wavefront of the reference beam, wherein the wavefront compensator is adjusted based on an output of the wavefront detector.

The patent application was filed on November 13, 2012 (13/675,062).
