WD, a Western Digital company, announced Arkeia software upgrade with version 11.0, including Windows bare-metal recovery and integration with WD business NAS solutions.

The Arkeia Windows bare-metal restore solution has been redeveloped from the ground up to offer the versatility companies need when having to rebuild a server after a disaster or hardware machine complications. The bare-metal feature allows the complete restoration of a server, including OS, application and documents to get the service backup-and-running the fastest way possible. The flexibility to recover in the eventuality of a disaster to dissimilar hardware makes it more cost efficient. In addition, you can also recover your server to a VM either permanently or temporarily, so you have time to acquire new replacement hardware.

Version 11.0 adds another layer of integration with other business storage solutions from WD. First, version 11.0 includes a backup agent for the My cloud Expert series which can be installed as an optional software on the NAS, then Arkeia solutions can integrate part or all of the machine data to the backup strategy. Second, the Disk-to-Disk-to-Disk feature of the Arkeia solutions has been extended to support portable disk drives such as WD’s My Passport portable drives. This feature allows you to make a fast copy to a USB drive and take the portable device out of your premise as part of a DR plan.

The software version comes with a user-interface enhancement including the redesign of the restore screen as well as the full support of Google Chrome browser.

Customers under maintenance can access this upgrade through their support portal access.
