HP StoreVirtual 4335 Hybrid Flash Array Starting at $59,000

And entry-level StoreOnce 2900 backup appliance ($26,000)

Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP announced new storage offerings that give midsized companies the ability to cost-effectively increase performance while reducing risk.

Midsized companies need to move fast, yet often lack the resources to take advantage of powerful storage technologies widely deployed in the enterprise. HP is helping bridge this gap with low-cost ways to accelerate applications, including an affordable SSD read-caching solution from a major vendor with SSD options for HP MSA Storage starting at $1,599.(1)

For customers looking at hybrid flash storage, HP is now offering a new StoreVirtual Storage system which is 12 times faster than an equivalently priced spinning media array.(1,2) Additionally, it is now helping customers protect data with a more scalable StoreOnce Backup appliance and new StoreEasy Storage file serving appliances that include software for DR and cloud backup.

The demand for rapid response to changing conditions is crucial for businesses of all sizes, but for midsized companies, access to required storage capabilities can be just out of reach,” said Craig Nunes, VP, storage marketing, HP. “At HP, we’re working with channel partners to simplify storage infrastructure and accelerate growth for customers by bringing hot technologies such as flash storage down into the entry segment.”

Flash storage that eliminates price barriers
to application acceleration
Two of the fastest growing segments in the external storage market are entry and flash arrays. HP is helping customers and channel partners ride the intersection of both of these waves by combining recently-introduced SSD caching and tiering capabilities with aggressively priced flash drives. HP’s MSA disk array enables customers to perform large-scale queries and other data-intensive operations with up to 65% less latency, which in turn boosts business productivity.(2)

HP also released a new StoreVirtual 4335 hybrid flash array that utilizes the latest SSDs and Adaptive Optimization tiering functionality to deliver 12 times the performance with more than 90% power and footprint savings per 2-node cluster than a spinning disk configuration.(2)

The system is compatible with and shares the same management experience as other StoreVirtual-based solutions, including the StoreVirtual Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA), ConvergedSystem 200-HC StoreVirtual hyper-converged appliances, and the built-in storage within HP Helion OpenStack. Common data services such as replication for DR and online data migration between storage pools provide 100% interoperability and flexibility to mix and match deployments where needed.

HP channel partners can introduce midsize businesses to hybrid flash storage with the specially priced, 2-node HP StoreVirtual 4335 Hybrid SAN bundle at a 30% savings(1). Utilizing HP Peer Motion, customers can seamlessly move workloads to the new hybrid StoreVirtual cluster with a few clicks and zero application disruption.

Protect twice as much data faster and at 23% lower cost(1)
HP has also upgraded its StoreOnce Backup family to better accommodate the needs of small- and medium-sized businesses. Built on the same foundation as the flagship HP StoreOnce 6500 Backup appliance, the new entry-level StoreOnce 2900 protects up to 70 TB of data in a single, 12-hour window and restores up to 41 TB in the same period.(2)

HP StoreOnce 2900

The scalable, entry-level HP StoreOnce 2900 Backup appliance offers customers twice as much backup capacity(3) and 30% better performance(4) than competitive systems at 23% lower cost.(5)

Customers can start small but grow to 31.5TB of usable capacity in a 2U footprint.(6)

The system is also compatible with HP StoreOnce Recovery Manager Central for simple, hypervisor-managed data protection of HP 3PAR StoreServ storage arrays. Support for all the same enterprise data services shared across the StoreOnce family – including StoreOnce Integrity Plus security and StoreOnce Catalyst for application-integrated backup – ensures that smaller customers get all the benefits of HP’s backup technology.

For smaller customers looking for a software-defined backup appliance, the StoreOnce Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA) can be run within a VM without a need to purchase additional hardware.  StoreOnce VSA provides deduplicated disk backup features alongside application-based VMs on virtual servers running vSphere, Hyper-V, or Linux KVM. It is expanded to include a larger 50TB high capacity option as well as a fully-functional 1TB free option. Customers will be able to download the free 1TB StoreOnce VSA starting on March 23.

Enhanced file solutions increase efficiency
and shield customers from risk
Ranked number one in units by IDC as the leading NAS product family under $15,000,(7) HP has refreshed StoreEasy Storage with new 1450, 1650, and 1850 models based on ProLiant Gen9 servers. Starting at under $5,500, StoreEasy Storage helps companies support expanding file storage needs-now with 56% greater capacity at 20% lower cost (8). To improve productivity and protect business operations, the new systems support 25 times faster RAID rebuilds and include DR options to reduce the risk of data loss.(8) The new models also include enhancements to the StoreEasy Dashboard, improving responsiveness to business growth by automatically providing alerts to customers and resellers when system capacity is running low.

HP has also combined its StoreEasy and LiveVault TurboRestore technology to enable easy deployment of hybrid cloud backup. Once LiveVault is active, backups can be set up to provide CDP with data stored offsite at two geographically separated and mirrored data centers to reduce the risk of data loss. enterprise PCI DSS, ISO 27001 certification, and HIPAA compliance help with the data security for legal life of stored data. Diverse platform support-including vSphere, Exchange, SQL Server, and Windows Server-suits a wide range of customer needs and gives customers full control by allowing them to choose how much data to retain on-site versus in the cloud.

StoreEasy also now includes Vision Solutions Double Take Availability software installed in the factory to provide protection for critical data with real-time, byte-level replication. With Double Take, in the event of a failure, customers can rapidly recover their data from the replicated data repository.(9)
