MapR: Free Hadoop On-Demand Training Exceeds 10,000 Registrants

MapR Technologies, Inc. announced its free Hadoop On-Demand Training program has enrolled more than 10,000 registrants worldwide in its first 30 days, signaling strong interest in Hadoop skills training.

MapR is also expanding its course curriculum with the addition of new courses covering Apache HBase and Apache Drill.

“We’ve had great momentum since we launched this training program in late January validating the demand for comprehensive Hadoop training delivered in a format that is convenient, flexible and available from anywhere at any time,” said Dave Jespersen, VP, worldwide services, MapR. “The big data market continues to be one that allows people to command the highest average salaries and we believe that this initiative will be a big value-add for developers, analysts and administrators.“

MapR is adding to its curriculum with courses covering Apache HBase and Apache Drill. Curriculum includes data modeling and schema design, as well as use-case-driven learning for data analysts in Drill.

These courses include:

• HBase Data Modeling and Architecture: This course is a foundational course that covers the use cases and concepts of the NoSQL technologies, how they differ from the relational databases, the HBase architecture and the data model components, and the basic operations. This course is available.
  

Two additional classes that will be added in the upcoming month, include:

• Drill Essentials: This course covers how analysts and programmers can leverage Apache Drill to perform low latency standard ANSI SQL queries on Hadoop File System, HBase and Hive. Topics covered include working with structured, schema-less, complex and nested data types such as HBase, JSON and a variety of SQL examples.
• HBase Schema Design: This course caters to data analysts, DBAs and developers and covers schema design, performance tuning, bulk-loading of data, and the storing of complex data structures.
  

Coursework in the free MapR Hadoop On-Demand Training Program includes the same level of depth and content as instructor-led training, with hands-on exercises, labs and quizzes that ensure an engaging and interactive experience for data professionals. The program also offers certification exams for different audiences, leading to certified Hadoop professional designations for developers, data analysts and administrators.
