Hyve Solutions Announces Availability of Latest Open Compute Project Initiatives
To scale data centers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 20, 2015 at 2:32 pmHyve Solutions Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SYNNEX Corporation and a Platinum Open Compute Project solutions provider, announced its support of the Project’s compute, storage and networking solutions by offering Open Rack v2, Leopard, Honey Badger, and Wedge products to scale datacenter customers.
Details of different product offerings are:
- Open Rack v2 increases the weight limit from 950kg to 1,250kg to allow for higher compute and storage density within a single rack and complies with Open Rack 1.0.
- The Leopard compute sled replaces Winterfell and updates the platform to support the latest Intel Xeon E5-2600v3 series ‘Haswell’ processors and high-speed DDR4 memory.
- Honey Badger is a light-weight compute module that works in Open Vault Storage (Knox). By leveraging the Open Vault platform, Honey Badger turns Knox from a JBOD into a cost-effective standalone storage server.
- Finally, Wedge is a custom-designed switch designed to replace high-capacity spine switches that handle the bulk of traffic within datacenters.
Prototypes will be avalbable for custumer testing.
“As a final integration point for Facebook’s OCP solutions, we’re excited to be a key source for the latest compute, storage and networking solutions to the market,” said Steve Ichinaga, president, Hyve Solutions. “The Open Compute Project continues to evolve, promoting significant enhancements to bot performance and efficiency in the datacenter, and we at Hyve Solutions are committed to providing these innovative solutions to the broader marketplace.“
“We are continuously looking for ways for the OCP community members to achieve great efficiencies in their data centers and are excited these latest innovations are being brought to market by Hyve Solutions,” said Frank Frankovsky, president and chairman, Open Compute Project Foundation. “We have always believed that by opening up specifications, the community benefits not only from those designs but will create new efficiencies themselves.“
