Automatic detection of network interface on host for accessing networked storage
By Francis Pelletier | March 16, 2015 at 2:20 pmRed Hat Israel, Ltd., Raanana, Israel, has been assigned a patent (8,954,549) developed by Heim, Itamar, Tel Aviv, Israel, for an “automatic detection of a network interface on a host for accessing networked storage.”
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: ”A host computer is coupled to data storage and has access to the data storage. The host computer has multiple network interfaces, which are associated with multiple logical networks. The host computer detects a network address of the data storage, and identifies one of the network interfaces that is associated with a best-performing logical network for accessing the data storage. The host computer then receives a routing configuration that routes traffic to the data storage via the identified network interface.“
The patent application was filed on June 7, 2010 (12/795,042).
