VMTurbo and Pure Storage in Joint Solution

VMTurbo, Inc. and Pure Storage, Inc. announced a joint solution which delivers efficient decision automation within Pure Storage environments.

VMTurbo offers integration with the FlashArray, with RESTful API embedded in the Purity Operating Environment. The joint solution enables VMTurbo to access diagnostic and behavioral information in order to apply its Economic Scheduling Engine to automate Intelligent Workload Management decisions.

Flash and intelligent workload management
By mapping the activity of virtual workloads through the virtual datastore and to the underlying FlashArray, this solution enables joint customers to identify noisy neighbor workloads, identify latency-inducing workloads, and maximize the value of Pure Storage investments through demand-driven placement decisions and volume sizing.

The FlashCare technology manages, protects and extends the life of flash and ensures consistent performance across multiple applications. The FlashReduce, FlashProtect and FlashRecover build on top of FlashCare provide enterprise data services such as inline data reduction, rich data protection and DR services.

VMTurbo’s demand-driven control platform for cloud and virtual environments leverages a patented market economy algorithm to conduct Intelligent Workload Management – a process of continuous workload sizing, placement, and configuration decisions that assures application performance while maximizing resource utilization across the entire infrastructure.

Pure Storage and VMTurbo integration
The joint solution, which is available, extends the VMTurbo Storage Control Module to permit the discovery of capacity utilization, access latency, and storage provisioning on FlashArrays. Additionally, the integration provides customers a priori control over application, user, or custom group service levels, ensuring consistent and repeatable delivery of Gold, Silver, and Bronze SLAs in multi-tenant environments. VMTurbo can intelligently migrate VMs to balance loads across various dimensions on the FlashArray such as space/capacity, latency and performance, or based on predefined policies and workload priorities. Additionally, the integration enables VMTurbo to create or resize Pure Storage volumes under the same conditions.
