This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 20, 2015 at 2:51 pmApricorn, Inc. announced Aegis Secure Key 3.0, an encrypted flash keys with USB 3.0 interface.
Built on its predecessor, the Secure Key 3.0 incorporates USB 3.0 connectivity for faster data speeds and separate admin and user mode access.
Other features include Lock-Override Mode, Read-Only Mode, Programmable Brute-Force Defense, and Forced Enrollment – all while incorporating the Apricorn’s: on-the-fly 256-Bit encryption, onboard keypad, embedded authentication, and cross-platform compatibility. Roughly the size of a pack of gum, the Secure Key 3.0’s software-free design and host-independence makes it usable in any OS environment where a powered USB port and storage file system exists.
“The initial response from our beta testers has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Mike McCandless, VP, sales and marketing, Apricorn. “The speed, small size, large capacity, and new features such as Read-Only and Lock-Override modes make this our most exciting product launch in recent history.“
The validation process for FIPS 140-2 level 3 (the highest validation of government data security attainable for a removable storage device) was already uderway, as was the testing for IP58 certification measuring physical resistance to blowing dust and extended water immersion. Test results for both certifications are expected in Q2, 2015.
