arrangements for changing light angle
Hitachi Media Electronics Co., Ltd., Yokohama-Shi, Japan, has been assigned a patent (8,937,855), developed by Yamazaki, Kazuyoshi, Yamato,Japan, and Shimada, Ken-ichi, Tuson, AZ for a “holographic optical pickup device, optical information recording and reproducing device, and method of reproducing optical information, having angular variable element arrangements for changing a light angle.”
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A holographic optical pickup device includes an optical axis split element for splitting a reference beam into two light beams in different propagation directions having polarized states substantially orthogonal to each other, angular variable elements for changing incident angle of the reference beam for irradiating an optical information recording medium, an image sensor for detecting a diffracted beam generated from a recorded region upon irradiation of the optical information recording medium with the reference beam to form a reproduction signal, and photodetectors for detecting the diffracted beam generated from the recorded region upon irradiation of the optical information recording medium with the reference beam. An angular error signal is generated for controlling the angular variable element using signals detected by the photodetectors.“

Storage system comprising function for migrating virtual communication port
added to physical communication port
Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (8,937,965), developed by Shimozono, Norio, Machida, Japan, and Ito, Shintaro, Yokohama, Japan for a “storage system comprising function for migrating virtual communication port added to physical communication port.”
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A switch unit, which is connected to one or more computers and one or more storage systems, comprises an update function for updating transfer management information, a routing table, for example. The storage system has a function for adding a virtual port to a physical port. The storage system migrates the virtual port addition destination from a first physical port to a second physical port and transmits a request of a predetermined type which includes identification information on the virtual port of the migration target to the switch unit. The transfer management information is updated by the update function of the switch unit so that the transfer destination which corresponds with the migration target virtual port is the switch port connected to the second physical port.“
