This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 29, 2015 at 3:13 pmDigital preservation and analytics company Object Matrix Ltd have been selected to lead a big data project in partnership with EADS Foundation Wales.
The project, which includes the Welsh Government and University of Wales Aberystwyth, is focused on meeting the increasing storage and analysis demands of the video surveillance industry. With a 10-year pedigree in delivering digital preservation platforms for the broadcast industry, there was a natural alignment between the project aims and the core competencies built up by Object Matrix over this period.
Government agencies across the UK not only support the collaborative process but also provide significant assistance to nurture collaboration between industry and academia. The aim of this type of collaborative R&D is to develop market disrupting, innovative technology. The partnership typifies this approach bringing together expertise in digital preservation, taxonomy, academic research in the field of data simplification and military systems integration and development.
“Object Matrix has over 100 years of collective experience in developing solutions to preserve digital content. We provide solutions and expertise that allow for the exploitation of both the content essence and the associated metadata thus bringing value to otherwise static information. Being able to bring our expertise to this project in partnership with Airbus Group makes perfect sense both from a commercial and R&D perspective,” said Jonathan Morgan, CEO, Object Matrix.
“Airbus Group established the research initiatives in Wales to help build the new knowledge necessary to meet the challenges of the Digital Age. It recognises that innovation into digitalisation, the ability to mine and master big data, is will be an increasing part of what success looks like in the future. Collaborative research undertaken with a flexible and agile supply chain is a vital component of the innovation strategy,” said Gary Clayton, operation manager, EADS Foundation Wales.
