Up to 15TB of flash, starting at $55,000
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 26, 2015 at 3:09 pmFollowing a recent spin-out from SanDisk Corp., NexGen Storage, Inc. announced its N5 Hybrid Flash Array portfolio and the latest software release featuring Prioritized Active Cache that improves flash utilization by 150%.
In addition to being more efficient, the new offerings improve performance, density, and flash capacity resulting in up to 4x lower $/VM storage costs versus leading hybrids.
Customers from a broad cross-section of enterprises
have experienced business benefits from deploying NexGen.
- Application Service Provider: “The NexGen N5 Hybrid Flash Array solution delivered exactly what we needed. Their team worked closely with us to architect our environment precisely to the needs of our business,” said Bill Marshall, CTO and founder, BridgePay Network Solutions, LLC. “We’ve been able to increase our monthly transactions by 500% in the same storage footprint and cut our processing time by more than half. As a result, we and our customers are very pleased.”
- Public Administration: “We experienced a 20% performance increase with the NexGen N5 Hybrid Flash Array,” said Benjamin Hendricks, information technology director, Wood County. “We’ve resolved all of the contention issues of the past, and we’re now able to assign service levels to all of our applications. We achieved a 78% reduction in support costs and a 63-percent reduction in space requirements.”
- Financial Services: “We’ve seen massive improvements in performance, capacity and efficiency since deploying the NexGen N5 flash storage, including a 33% reduction in footprint with a 458% increase in capacity,” said Anthony Hill, IT director, Orangefield Columbus. “And the real beauty of the NexGen system is that we haven’t had to touch it once we got it up and running, which was an easy process in itself. We haven’t had to worry about it at all. It’s definitely exceeded our expectations.”
“Today’s storage solutions are positioned around the newest technologies, but they treat all data the same, regardless of its value to the business,” said Ben Woo, founder and MD, Neuralytix. “By combining technologies such as PCIe flash with value-driven data management capabilities, NexGen delivers storage solutions that are aware of business priorities, able to automatically adapt to changing priorities, and align the cost of storing, accessing and managing data with its business value. By using the value of data to prioritize it, NexGen’s solutions improve the user experience while keeping storage costs in check – a brilliant move.”
NexGen’s data management software delivers control, efficiency and automation, including the ability to control the data stored in flash with each individual customer’s business priorities.
Other differentiating capabilities include:
- A purpose-built software architecture to manage PCIe flash that ensures customers get the most from flash by eliminating SSD bottlenecks and performance limitations.
- Prioritized Active Cache allows 2.5x more data in flash versus hybrids and reduces flash capacity required by 10x versus all flash arrays.
- Policy-based simplicity that provides automated, real-time prioritization of all application workloads.
- Integration with VMware via a vSphere plug-in and VAAI to ensure plug and play deployment.
- More flash, less footprint than SSD-based products with up to 15.2TB of flash and 64TB of capacity in 3 rack-units.
“NexGen Storage is committed to delivering storage solutions that provide IT administrators the real-time agility they need to adapt to ever-changing business requirements and priorities,” said John Spiers, founder and CEO, NexGen. “The product portfolio we’ve unveiled today reflects our commitment and exemplifies customer-centric solutions that are the heart of NexGen.“
The complete N5 Hybrid Flash Array product portfolio, including the N5-200, N5-300, N5-500 and N5-1000, is available with pricing starting at $55,000.
