With over 5 million business customers and 8,000 partners worldwide, it also expanded to a new office in Rochester, NY, earned 67 IT, business and executive awards; and launched six new products in 2014 as part of its mission create a complete platform to safeguard business data, everywhere it lives.
Product launches
Since its founding, Datto has been committed to designing technology to create a data protection platform for customers. 2014 new product launches included an upgrade to the company’s SIRIS line for enterprise BC, expansion of the ALTO family, designed to protect SMBs, and the addition of Datto NAS, the company’s first network-attached storage device. Enhancements to the SIRIS 2 and ALTO family deliver improved customer processing power and faster backup capabilities. Introduction of Virtual ALTO and Virtual SIRIS allows MSPs and VARs to protect virtual and physical customer servers.
New partner features
As a direct response to the market’s demand for more transparent cloud pricing and the manpower needed to manage data volume thresholds for billing, Datto unveiled its time-based cloud retention (TBCR) for its channel partners. Under the TBCR model, the monthly cost for cloud-based storage is no longer variable based on volume, allowing its more than 8,000 global MSP customers to onboard new customers and reliably allocate time to manage billing processes. The company also announced three software alliances with Connectwise, GFI Ma and Servoyant to provide a more efficient dashboard experience for MSPs to monitor their Datto devices with each respective remote monitoring management (RMM) vendor.
Industry recognition
The firm and its executives also earned 67 awards in 2014, validating its commitment to its people, partners and technology, and strengthening its standing within the channel and data protection market. The company was listed to the Inc. 500 for the third consecutive year (ranking No. 1 in Connecticut). It was also named the Fastest Growing Technology Company in Connecticut for the second straight year by Marcum Tech Top 40 and the Connecticut Technology Council, and recognized as the Fastest Growing Company in the Tri-State Area and no. 29 in North America in Deloitte’s 2014 Technology Fast 500. In addition to its growth, the company was named among the 100 Best Places to Work in Information Technology by IDG’s Computerworld. In 2014, founder and CEO Austin McChord was named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist, as well as earned two awards from CRN for the Top 50 Midmarket IT Vendor Executive and Top 25 Innovator in the Channel.

- Was voted 2014 HTG Vendor Member of the Year by HTG Peer Group.
- VP of business development Rob Rae was selected for the 2014 Channel Chiefslist by CRN.
- Manager of partner development Christine Gassman and channel engagement manager Samantha Ciaccia were recognized for the Women of the Channel list by CRN.
