Cloud services use copy data virtualisation
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 16, 2015 at 3:15 pmVersutus IT Group announced a portfolio of Actifio, Inc.-powered data protection and recovery services called the vCloud.
The suite of data management services, which is integrated with Versutus’ data centre infrastructure, helps clients ensure application availability and instant data access. The vCloud portfolio uses Actifio’s copy data virtualisation platform to deliver efficient and secure new business resiliency services including:
-
Backup as a Service (Vaulting) – Protect your vital business VMs and apps
-
Recovery/BC – Rapidly recover your business with vCloud
Versutus IT is both a cloud solution provider and adviser for hundreds of customers across the UK and South Africa including Cisco, Meraki, and K3.
It integrated Actifio into their hybrid infrastructure of their Glasgow, Scotland and Nottingham, UK data centres, the cornerstones for its EMEA-wide cloud service delivery capabilities.
“We dug deeply into a variety of data management and storage solutions for our next-generation offerings,” said Thomas Stirling, CEO, Versutus IT, “and Actifio was the clear winner. Actifio is doing to the data management industry what VMware did for the server industry over a decade ago. It’s game-changing technology, and we’re excited to be bringing an offering to market that makes it available to more customers across EMEA.“
Actifio helps hundreds of global enterprise customers and service provider partners in more than 30 countries around the world virtualise their data, just as they virtualised their servers and networks. The company’s Virtual Data Pipeline technology decouples data from infrastructure, enabling improvements in business resiliency, agility, and access to the cloud. Actifio replaces siloed data management applications with a simple, application-centric, SLA-driven approach that lets customers capture data from production applications, manage it more economically, and use it when and where they need to.
As part of Versutus’ recent expansion into South Africa, the company is implementing Actifio in its remote facility there as well.
“Cloud hasn’t taken off in South Africa just yet,” explained Stirling. “We see a real differentiator in the market there for Actifio-powered cloud services, and are very excited about our future growth with the copy data virtualisation leader.“
“It’s been great working with Versutus to accelerate their clients’ adoption of cloud services by making application data protection and business resiliency services faster, easier, and more affordable,” said Greg Scorziello, GM EMEA, Actifio. “Versutus is a forward-thinking partner who sees the importance of copy data virtualisation for enterprise cloud adoption, and we’re excited to be supporting them in this effort with our proven technology and expertise.“
