Record Year for SSD Sales in EMEA, Led by Samsung and Kingston – Futuresource Consulting
8.8 million drives to be shipped in 2014, 60% growth Y/Y

“Across the 17 countries we track in the EMEA region, we’re seeing SSD drive sales breaking new records,” says Mats Larsson, senior market analyst. “Our forecasts show 60% growth this year, culminating in more than 8.8 million drives shipped by the end of the year.
“Q3 saw a surge in sales, posting 70% growth year-on-year and reaching shipments of nearly 2.2 million units. Looking at the vendors, Samsung continues to rule the roost in EMEA, followed by Kingston, with the two brands together accounting for almost 60% of the market.“
Germany is the largest market for SSD drives in EMEA, accounting for 30% of shipments, followed by UK, France and Russia, each accounting for around 10%.
120GB/128Gb is the most popular capacity followed by 240/256GB, accounting for almost 70% of sales combined.
“With falling prices and increasing public awareness, we expect SSD to continue to exhibit strong growth across 2015,” says Larsson.
