72TB with Windows Server running Hyper-V replicating data across Atlantic
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 19, 2014 at 2:59 pmGridstore, Inc. announced that Hibernia Networks, a privately-held provider of telecommunications services, has chosen their company-wide solution hosting all of its critical systems.
The Gridstore system configuration, totaling 72TB capacity with Windows Server running in a Hyper-V environment, is installed in Dublin, Ireland and in Lynn, MA replicating data across the Atlantic. Hibernia Networks maintains additional locations in Canada, Northern Ireland, England, The Netherlands, The US and India.
Hibernia provides secure and diverse dedicated Ethernet, DTM, wavelengths and carrier grade IP transit services. As a service provider, it also offers cloud connectivity, low latency connectivity, video services and HiberniaCDN for anytime, anywhere content delivery.
According to David Gargan, global IT administrator, Hibernia: “To keep up with our explosive growth, our current SAN was becoming limited in its ability to deal with our complex technology expansions, our infrastructure was in need of a company-wide upgrade. We did a great deal of research ultimately choosing Gridstore.“
There have been benefits to Hibernia’ IT environment since implementing the Gridstore solution. Most importantly they have achieved a reduction in technical staff hours and costs. Additionally, because of the increase in performance and higher IO/s for both applications and database servers, they have been able to increase the amount of users accessing the systems. From a business perspective, Hibernia will not have to buy a new SAN when it is time to expand, they can grow by adding another node to their grid.
Gargan added: “Gridstore is easy-to-use, resilient and provides the IO/s we need while enabling us to add extra hosts without impact to the international services we provide our customers. For a global telecom provider with 217 points-of-presence in 89 markets in 25 countries that is a very big deal.“
