Oracle StorageTek VSM support in Vision is in addition to the existing support for native tape and for IBM TS7700 virtual tape.

Availability Intelligence, produced by Vision, uncovers dangers in IT infrastructure through automated and intelligent analysis of performance and configuration data, along with built-in hardware capacity knowledge.

Vision automatically assesses health and risks within the entire z/OS tape environment, including replication. Automated analysis of logical and physical tape movement, migration, and recalls, as well as detailed views into how the front-end and back-end of the VSM hardware are handling the workloads enables pro-active tape performance management.

z/OS SMF JOB activity is tied to the VSM activity to allow for detailed root cause analysis. Drill down to the actual front-end and back-end activity to troubleshoot typical z/OS tape problems is supported.

With the Web Reporter for Vision, authorized users can view the status of their environment and run reports from any PC or mobile device, without installing any client software. The Web Reporter makes it easier than ever to share performance and availability status reports for mission critical enterprise infrastructure.

Vision is available for installation on-premise, or as a cloud services offering for short or long term engagements.

Current customers wanted to expand IntelliMagic Vision’s unique visibility to more parts of their infrastructure, and specifically requested support for Oracle StorageTek VSM,” says Brent Phillips, MD Americas, IntelliMagic.”Now these customers can proactively protect the availability of their virtual tape environment, regardless of whether it’s IBM or Oracle StorageTek, with the same software they use for their mainframe disk and z/OS systems resources,” adds Phillips.
