Management of variable resistance storage device

Seagate Technology LLC, Cupertino, CA, has been assigned a patent (8,879,302) developed by Mark Allen Gaertner, Vadnais Heights, MN, Ryan James Goss, Prior Lake, MN, and Jon D. Trantham, Chanhassen, MN, for the “management of variable resistance storage device.” 

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Various embodiments may generally be directed to a variable resistance data storage device and a method of managing the device. A data storage device may have at least a controller configured to re-characterize at least one variable resistance memory cell in response to an identified variance from a predetermined resistance threshold.”

The patent application was filed on Feb. 26, 2013 (13/777,760).
