Foremay: 2.5-Inch 8TB 6Gb SATA SSDs

Foremay, Inc. announced its SSDs with capacities of 4TB and 8TB in a 2.5″ SATA form factor with 6Gb SATA.

They bring R/W speeds up to 500MB/s, and random R/W IO/s up to 100,000. 

 The drives incorporate AES-256 bit hardware encryption as well as self-encryption algorithms that comply with TCG Opal 2.0 specifications, offered as optional features. 

In addition, they are offered with both enterprise operating temperatures and industrial operating temperatures.

“Our 4TB and 8TB large capacity SATA 3 drives are offered as solutions for ruggedized servers and enterprise servers,” said Jack Winters, Foremay’s CTO. “When we asked our customers what we should do for the next step in SSDs, most replied with capacity, capacity and capacity. We believe our 4TB and 8TB 2.5″ SATA SSDs can help system designers innovate to the next level of high density and highly reliable systems in both enterprise and industrial applications.”

The 4TB and 8TB SATA 3 SDs wil be offered through Foremay’s signature SC199 family and EC188 family, with optional features including hardware based encryption, military grade secure erase, one-key self-destroy in emergency situations, on-board UPS for sudden power down protection, and read-only function to prevent he drive from being writen and files from being altered by unauthorized aces or hacking.
