44% of Customers Using Dropbox for Cloud Storage – Apptix/TechValidate

Security remains major concern.

Apptix, Inc., provider of hosted business communication, collaboration, compliance and security, and IT solutions, announced the results of a cloud storage survey that explored customers’ perspectives.

TechValidate Software, Inc., an independent research organization, conducted the survey of over 7,000 Apptix customers in October 2014.

Key survey findings are listed below, based on responses from customers:

  • 44% of responding customers are using Dropbox for cloud storage today, 21% said Apple iCloud, 17% said Google Drive and 14% said Microsoft OneDrive
  • 78% were concerned with the security of their shared files in the cloud, while 21% were not at all concerned
  • A secure user logon was listed as the most important consideration when choosing a cloud storage solution with adherence to compliance coming in in second place
  • 25% of responding customers cited HIPAA as a compliance standard their organization was subject to while 13% cited SEC/FINRA and yet another 13% cited PCI DSS

As the survey results have confirmed, the need for more enterprise file synchronization and sharing offerings is growing,” said Joe Cirillo, VP of product development, Apptix. “More companies are looking to secure their enterprise information assets, thus preventing leakage threats caused by users moving data through uncontrolled, commercial cloud services. Apptix offers not only a range of cloud storage options, but guidance and expertise to help businesses improve productivity and meet goals as well.
