This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 14, 2014 at 2:54 pmActifio, Inc. announced platform features for enterprise users of SQL Server and Hyper-V environments.
These enhancements, to be delivered in new 6.1 platform release, provide a single solution for application development, testing, data management and protection for SQL, Sharepoint, Exchange and Hyper-V – accelerating application development and recovery times on premise or in the cloud.
Highlights of Actifio 6.1 for Microsoft environments include:
-
Agile Application Development – SQL Certified with Actifio workflows and LogSmart
-
Virtualized Application Support – Hyper-V Integration
-
Application Protection – Application Consistency and change tracking
-
Scalable Microsoft Management – MS Cluster support and New Actifio Global Manager (Beta)
-
Cloud Extensibility – Integration with Actifio-powered clouds for SLA-based BC
Additionally, the solutions for SQL provide automated workflow for database administrators, orchestrating image refreshes and instantly providing access to R/W virtual copies. This allows numerous virtual copies to be presented on multiple systems – on demand and on schedule – without additional operational complexity or storage costs. RESTful APIs provides integration with a variety of ISVs and service providers, for example, provisioning applications, masking software to protect sensitive data and many others.
“Actifio’s platform provides a solution that has enabled our 8TB+ SQL database to be backed up in less than 20 minutes, and is able to be restored in a similar timeframe. The copy data function has resulted in an 80% reduction of storage required for application development.” said a senior IT architect, Federal Government.
Today, over 80% of Actifio’s customers are leveraging Copy Data Virtualization with their SQL Server environments.
“We are always looking for ways increase the efficiency of our application development efforts for our Microsoft applications deployed on-site, as well as those apps hosted in the cloud,” said Jerod Rentfrow, I.T. manager, Precision Aerospace Corp. “We first implemented Actifio to protect our ERP and web-applications, and now can easily extend the ROI by applying those same SLA’s to our latest SQL environments to accelerate development and facilitate faster cloud-migration.“
Through data virtualization, Actifio allows Microsoft customers to eliminate those multiple data silos and point tools while improving SLAs, time-to-data-use, and reducing costs and risk. The solutions for SQL Server capture data at block level, in native format, according to the businesses (SLA. Actifio enables management of a physical copy anywhere, moved and stored once.
“IT organizations of all sizes are more dependent on their data than ever before; demanding higher service levels for all servers (not just ‘critical’ ones) – resilience and protection that can’t be sustained by legacy backup tools,” said Jason Buffington, Sr. data protection analyst, ESG. “Actifio was one of the first to truly tackle ‘Copy Data Management’ challenge and has continued to innovate around automating key functions and workload-savvy integration to enable their users to do more with less.“
