This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 31, 2014 at 2:37 pmCalDigit, Inc. announces that the T3 Thunderbolt 2 RAID storage solution is available.
The new version of the T3 features Thunderbolt 2 technology, and a higher storage capacity of 15TB. It supports RAID-0, -1 and JBOD configurations and includes a 5-year warranty. CalDigit is also giving away a free AV Pro drive reader with pre-orders of the 9, 12 or 15TB models of the T3.
The new T3 is the affordable yet powerful, and feature-packed RAID-0, -1 and JBOD storage device available. Starting at under $500, with performance over 500MB/s, and a 5-year warranty, the T3 sets a new benchmark for professional RAID storage.
“The value and volume of features that the new T3 with Thunderbolt 2 offers goes beyond what is currently available on the market. The 5 year warranty proves how much CalDigit believes in the reliability and build quality of the T3,” said Kosta Panagos, marketing director, CalDigit.
The new T3 is an exception to this rule. When used with SSDs it can achieve speeds of 1,100MB/s, and with 3.5″ HDDs installed the T3 can achieve speeds of 580MB/s. The T3’s 3-bay design allows the device to achieve performance than traditional 2-bay storage devices. The 3-bay design also allows for higher storage capacities of up to 15TB with 3.5″ HDDs installed. Traditional RAID-0, -1 and JBOD devices, that are deigned in the 2-bay style, have lower storage capacities than the T3.
CalDigit’s investment in Thunderbolt 2 has ushered in a new era of 4K capale devices, allowing professional users to integrate a 4K workflow. The dual Thunderbolt 2 ports on the T3 allow users to connect a 4K monitor as part of the daisy-chain, with simplicity. The CalDigit T3 is built for professional users to meet the demands of 4K post-production.
“Thunderbolt 2 gives professional users the performance they need for working with high-resolution uncompressed 4K video formats, and the T3’s data transfer performance means working with 4K files has never been easier,” said Kosta Panagos, marketing director, CalDigit.
The CalDigit T3 with Thunderbolt 2 is available from the CalDigit Online Stores. Pricing for the T3 starts at $499 in the US, £370.80 (inc. VAT) in the UK, and £478.80 (inc. VAT) in Europe for the 1.5TB HDD model.
