GigeNET Cloud’s Next Generation With SAN
Hosting and DDoS protection
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 9, 2014 at 2:53 pmGigeNET Cloud‘s implemented SAN, increases reliability, performance and redundancy of its cloud hosting platform.
GigeNET, a managed hosting and DDoS protection providers, is headquartered just outside Chicago, IL, where it owns a 17,000 square foot datacenter. It also operates a facility in Los Angeles, CA and is preparing to launch its new East Coast location.
Networks generally include some type of storage. Traditional network storage was located inside, or directly connected to, individual file servers that were often dispersed across workgroups throughout an organization. These typically involved a multi-server approach that was often complicated, cumbersome and costly to maintain.
A SAN offers benefits for the SMBs over this type of infrastructure. These include availability to storage through use of multiple access paths, performance with faster connection to disks, and DR capabilities by mirroring data on disks at another location. Cost savings is also a factor since disk space is used more efficiently so no space is wasted and businesses don’t need to buy disks as often.
“Our completely independent cloud infrastructure in Chicago runs on our 3rd generation TurbioIO SAN platform,” said Ameen Pishdadi, CTO and president, GigeNET. “This next generation SAN offers significant gains in performance, reliability, stability and redundancy over other solutions offered today at no additional cost.“
