This cross-platform combination was announced at the IBC 2014 Show in Amsterdam. The LTFS solution allows users in the media and entertainment industry to simplify their archiving process at a speed with maximized efficiency.

Imagine presented a portable LTO-6 tape drive connected to a personal computer via the USB 3.0 port and archiving software to control it; using PreRoll Post for Windows software with the USB 3.0 LTO drive.

The Windows version of PreRoll Post builds upon Imagine’s expertise in easy to install and use archive software geared for the media industry.” said Dan Montgomery, president, Imagine Products. “We’re excited to offer this application specifically geared for demanding 4K HD RAW workflows.

PreRoll Post for Windows is designed for 64-bit OSs (Windows 7 and 8). It has a single window type user interface with all functions readily accessible. Drag and drop files and folders into the queue for copying to tape while simultaneously browsing or searching tape contents for retrieval.

There’s also an optional Backup Wizard mode to assist new or occasional users in easily creating archives. Imagine partnered with Discovery Channel to seamlessly format tapes and verify their contents to comply with Discovery’s specifications.

The UNITEX LT60 drive has an IBM LTO-6 tape mechanism and offers a USB 3.0 port for flexibility and speed data transfers, without the need for cumbersome SAS converters or expensive Thunderbolt enabled computers. LTFS drivers are provided for Windows and Macintosh platforms. The drive features an internal power converter and is supplied with 110 and 220 power cords. Fully CE and UL certified.

PreRoll Post for Windows is planned for general release in 4Q14.

MSRP will be $499.

The UNITEX LT60 drive will be available mid-September 2014.
