Seagate Launches EVault Enterprise Backup and Recovery Appliances

Seagate Technology plc is launching the EVault Enterprise Backup and Recovery Appliances (EVault EBA), designed for enterprise users and MSPs.

Timed with the introduction of Seagate’s Cloud Systems and Solutions strategy, these backup andrecovery appliances have been built from the ground up to both connect and replicate to the cloud.

The architectural flexibility inherent to the Seagate appliances makes them for heterogeneous environments demanding up to a full petabyte of storage and extreme computing power.

“The EVault Enterprise Backup and Recovery Appliances are designed as a complete solution, with the hardware and software optimized for each other. Our partners and customers have been asking for appliances that can accommodate up to 100TB in usable capacity in a single machine and we have delivered,” said Unmesh Kulkarni, senior director, product management, Seagate cloud systems and solutions. “The EVault EBAs are also designed for organizations demanding up to a full IT data center rack of storage, extreme computing power, and connection to the cloud. For MSPs, these appliances are ideal for easily providing a private cloud for their end customers.“

The EBAs have high storage density so customers can store more data within a small data center rack footprint of  four rack units of space. They include an unlimited number of agents, satellite software licenses and application plug-ins. They are engineered for computing requirements, large storage needs, reliability, and ease of use. Being compact in size (4U) and overall power consumption means customers are getting a greener solution and can choose to store data within their own data center, to a different data center, backup to the EVault cloud or to a partner’s cloud.

Exclusive are DeltaPro backups, enterprise components and granular restore. These appliances support multiple OSs, applications and functionality like encryption, compression and dedupe are included, so customers to build the clouds they need.
