Enhanced application performance with tiered storage
in information handling system
Dell Products LP, Round Rock, TX, has been assigned a patent (8,775,736) developed by Jacob Cherian, Austin, TX, for “a system and method for enhanced application performance with tiered storage in an information handling system.”

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “An information handling system includes a memory controller coupled to a first and a second storage device. The memory controller stores information on the first storage device based upon an access count related to the information, stores other information on the second storage device based upon a another access count related to the other information, and stores access data including the access counts. The information handling system also includes a processing system coupled to the memory controller. The processing system obtains the access data from the memory controller, and determines to perform an operation on the data based upon the access count, and to not perform the operation on the other data based upon the other access count. “

Storage discovery in SAN using device domains under control of storage device
Dell Products LP, Round Rock, TX, has been assigned a patent (8,782,198) developed by Jason Cherian, Austin, TX, Gaurav Chawla, Austin, TX, and Lazarus J. Vekiarides, West Roxbury, MA, for a “system and method for storage discovery in a SAN using device domains under control of a storage device.”

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A storage device coupled to a fabric includes a memory and a processor operable to receive, default domain information for a storage area network (SAN) from a management server coupled to the fabric. The default domain information including a list of host systems and a list of initiators on the SAN. The processor also sends the default domain information to a management station to configure a discovery domain including a host system selected from the list of host systems and an initiator selected from the list of initiators, receives the discovery domain from the management station, directs the management server to add the first discovery domain to a list of device domains implemented by the management server on the SAN, and directs the management server to enable the first discovery domain.”
