SPC-1 Benchmark of Fujitsu Eternus DX600 S3 Hybrid System

320,000 SPC-1 IO/s, $1.54/SPC-1 IO/s online resources

Fujitsu Limited announces that its mid-range ETERNUS DX600 S3 scalable, unified disk storage systems are the choice for data intensive applications such as demanding database systems, real-time analytics and big data environments, online transaction scenarios with a high number of users, plus all types of internet applications.

As confirmed by the recently published SPC Benchmark from the Storage Performance Council, the hybrid dual controller midrange systems, focused on optimizing business-centric storage, have again achieved best-in-class benchmark performance (IO/s), price-performance ($/IO/s), and sub-millisecond response times.

The extended system lifetime of the ETERNUS DX600 S3 and reduced migration costs result from delivering a large headroom in areas where exponential data growth can be anticipated. IO/s performance directly influences the number of VMs that can be hosted on a storage system meaning ETERNUS DX can constantly increase VM density and so is a storage consolidation platform for VMware or Hyper-V usage.

Achieving this benchmark also demonstrates that the hybrid system minimizes latency by running a large number of SSDs efficiently and without creating internal bottlenecks. In addition, many customers no longer need to invest in expensive special-purpose all-flash arrays, as this system achieves a response time of only 0.61 milliseconds under full load it can achieve many high-performance data application objectives.

The ETERNUS DX S3 systems and ETERNUS SF16 management software are available, sold directly and via channel partners. Prices vary depending on configuration.

All ETERNUS DX S3 systems are easy to manage and share the same flexible family architecture, providing investment protection and offering extensive scalability, thanks to the ability to upgrade to bigger models within the range. In addition, the latest release of ETERNUS SF software introduces new system management functionality for customers deploying the previous generation of ETERNUS DX systems.

With a response time of 0.61milliseconds at 100% load, the ETERNUS DX600 S3 achieved the highest scores in the history of the SPC-1 benchmark.

As it is able to run more than 320,000 SPC-1 IO/s, the midrange system plays in the same league as higher-priced enterprise systems, with a similar level of performance to many all-flash arrays.

The dual-controller ETERNUS DX600 S3 offers a price performance level of $1.54/SPC-1 IO/s.
