VMware Virtual Volume Storage Emulator by SANBlaze

In beta

SANBlaze Technology, Inc. announces its VVOL storage emulator, which will be demonstrated at VMworld.

The company will be demonstrating the latest version of their storage emulation software with support for VMware storage APIs, such as VMware Virtual Volume (VVOL), vSphere API’s for Storage Awareness (VASA) and VAAI.

SANBlaze storage emulation solutions are deployed worldwide in the development and test labs of most major storage vendors. The addition of VMware API support, including the VVOL specification, extends the use of the SANBlaze products. They provide extensive, certified support for these VMware storage extensions, delivering emulated, cost effective, scalable systems for firms developing solutions that integrate into a VMware environment.

SANBlaze emulated storage solutions provide hundreds of programmable test and development use cases for error handling, application performance modeling, scalability and performance testing. Emulated storage delivers rapidly and easily configurable storage platforms at a fraction of the cost of real storage.

VMware Ready certification insures that SANBlaze devices act like real storage devices, while offering the ability to affect any number of variables to simulate different scenarios and edge cases. SANBlaze is one of a few companies to offer full VVOL and VASA 2.0 support, and the only company to offer an emulated tool for development, testing and pre-deployment use.

Benefits of employing VirtuaLUN include:

  • Increased operational flexibility, as emulated storage can deliver multiple configurations, varying performance and scalability profiles and 100 s of target storage environments.
  • Cost savings and efficiency are increased due to multiple simulated storage environments that may be reconfigured with a single command.
  • Error conditions, test cases and scale testing can be implemented with near zero latency, since storage is emulated in RAM.

SANBlaze VirtuaLUN target emulation systems are available in a number of physical appliance configurations or available as software to run standalone or as a virtual appliance.

The product is in beta.
