Sans Digital: 12Gb SAS/SATA Expander JBOD

Sans Digital, Inc. announced an addition to the MobileSTOR series.

The MS8X12/MS12X12 eight and twelve bay SAS/SATA JBOD SAS expander tower with expansion capability.

Based on the EliteSTOR SAS expander series, the MS8X12/MS12X12 connects to 6Gb/12Gb SAS or SATA HDDs via one mini-SAS (SFF-8644) cable to the HBA. It provides over 2,000MB/s (1,400MB/s in 8 bays) of data transfer when directly connected to a RAID controller and could be daisy-chained to additional units, allowing pay as you grow model for storage hungry applications.
 
The MS8X12/MS12X12 support 3Gb/6Gb/12Gb SATA/SAS HDDs and include standard features such as dual SAS channel, dual expansion mini-SAS slot and SGPIO support that enables the HBA controller to access real-time information regarding the MS8X12/MS12X12 and each of the HDDs installed in the unit.

The built-in SAS expansion port enables the system to connect up to 256 HDD drives daisy-chained.
 
Optional bundled with 12Gb RAID controller card. The 12Gb SAS RAID controller is for high performance.

The bundled options of 12Gb RAID controller card is based on PCIe 3.0 x8, with dedicated 1.2 dual core RAID processor and DDR-3 ECC 1833 2GB memory.

Complex RAID calculation is offload to the RAID controller to provide performance.

Supported in Windows, Mac and Linux, along with virtual platform of Hyper-V and VMware, the 12Gb solution can fit all performance hungry IT application or video production environment.
