PoINT Storage Manager 5.1

The release 5.1 of PoINT Storage Manager from PoINT Software & Systems GmbH includes a number of features extending the application area of the product.

The release provides a set of functional enhancements for the tape libraries. Besides the integration of additional library models the version 5.1 supports natively the LTFS format. By the LTFS integration the strategy to count consequently on standard formats is pursued which are important for long-term archiving. The release is planned for 4Q2014. Detailed information regarding release content and availability will follow within short.

PoINT Storage Manager Version 5.0 and PoINT Storage Manager – Archive Edition available
The new release provides versatile novelties by which PoINT faces the challenges of data growth, management of inactive data and long-term storage efficiently. Now also authorized users are able to archive data by themselves. Additionally the list of supported storage systems had been extended. The new version supports now Windows Server 2012 R2 and implements an optimized integration of Blu-ray disc libraries by using PoINT Jukebox Manager as a connector.

From now on the new PoINT Storage Manager – Archive Edition is available. Users are able to employ their primary storage more efficiently by this easy to use edition and to archive inactive data to cost-effective secondary storage. Archiving requirements can save investment costs at the same time. A consistent usage of standards provides additional investment protection. PoINT Storage Manager – Archive Edition ensures independence from specific hardware manufacturers.

Data Request is PoINT distribution partner in Switzerland
From July 1st, 2014 Data Request AG is new PoINT distribution partner. The main aim of this partnership is to extend the market presence of PoINT Storage Manager in Switzerland.  By PoINT StorgeManager the Swiss company can offerto ts customers a solution with an attractive price model facing the increasing challenges in the storage market. Data Request has focused on storage and virtualization solutions and offers its customers complete solutions from one source. The company was looking for a product by which its customers can get the growing data requirements under control and offer simplified and automated archiving scenarios.

PoINT will participate this year again at the SNW Europe from October 28th to 29th in Frankfurt, Germany, and NetApp Insight 2014 from November 17th to 20th in Berlin, Germany.
