Several US Law Firms Chooses Box

DLA Piper, Hinshaw & Culbertson, Perkins Coie and Stoel Rives

Box, Inc. announced that law firms DLA Piper LLP, Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, Perkins Coie LLP and Stoel Rives LLP have chosen Box to manage access and share information across devices.

Perkins Coie LLP

Box also unveiled a new partnership with legal systems integrator and consultant HBR Consulting LLC and integrations with Recommind, Inc. and Logikcull (Logik Systems, Inc.), making it easier for the company’s growing legal customer base to enable eDiscovery and store, manage and analyze content in the cloud.

Legal IT leaders are using cloud technologies to transform their IT infrastructures by centralizing content management and improving internal and external collaboration without losing control over users and content,” said Whitney Bouck, GM of enterprise, Box. “By integrating the Box platform with leading legal services offerings, we’re providing the best way for legal customers to make business critical information readily available to attorneys and easily sharable with clients.

The law firms moving to Box represent a diverse set of use cases. DLA Piper is leveraging Box to improve file sharing security gaps and replace unsanctioned tools with a secure end-user collaboration tool. Additionally, through Box and Intapp’s partnership announced last year, DLA is using Intapp’s Integration Builder to integrate Box with HP Worksite and enable its mobile workforce to be productive from anywhere, while still protecting IP. Both Hinshaw & Culbertson and Stoel Rives rely on Box for external collaboration between hospitals and healthcare providers who need access to patient information for legal cases.

Ryan Schlunz, CIO, Stoel Rives explained: “Our clients need outside of the box thinking for enterprise content management, with inside of the box security applied. Box helps deliver us both. We believe secure and reliable access to enterprise content – made available anytime and anywhere – is a critical competitive advantage for us – Box makes that possible.

Tom Proctor, litigation support manager, Hinshaw & Culbertson added: “Security is our top priority as we often deal with content that’s both under HIPAA and eDiscovery requirements. With Box, we can ensure that our attorneys can securely and efficiently collaborate with hospitals and healthcare providers on patient information for cases.

Leveraging cloud technologies, legal IT leaders are collaboratively with tools that truly support the way they want to work. For example, Perkins Coie is using the Box API to develop a connector that enables users to drag and drop content to and from internal document repositories and Box. The rich API provided by Box enables Perkins Coie to reduce the friction between systems of record and engagement, thereby reducing end-user frustration.

The current process to move content from legacy systems to Box oftentimes requires many clicks and necessitates the end-user having custom software installed on their computer,” said Gavin Gray CIO, Perkins Coie. “By creating a connector that enables users to browse legacy systems using an HTML-5 compatible browser and then drag and drop content from the browser into Box, we are able to reduce the divide between the two worlds.

Box and HBR Consulting
Box is announcing a new relationship with HBR Consulting, in consulting to the legal sector with more than three decades of experience helping law firms and law departments plan, implement and measure business operations, information and technology. The two companies will work together to offer custom-built solutions for law firms looking to transform their IT infrastructure with cloud-based storage and collaboration tools.

Box and Recommind Integration
Through a custom-built connector, Box integrates with Axcelerate, Recommind’s eDiscovery review and analysis platform, to enable organizations to collect, analyze and review information stored in the cloud. This new integration allows law firms and corporate legal departments to handle eDiscovery, data management and information governance.

Our integration with Box reflects the massive trend in the enterprise to leverage cloud-based storage and collaboration solutions,” said Bob Tennant, CEO, Recommind. “We are pleased to offer organizations with cloud-based information the ability to utilize Recommind’s industry-leading machine learning and analytics for eDiscovery.

Box and Logikcull Integration
With the Box to Logikcull one-click integration, Box users will be able to transfer documents and metadata from Box into Logikcull for the purposes of discovery and investigations. Logikcull’s cloud discovery and integrations platform integrates with Box APIs, eliminating multiple manual steps and allows users to search, collect and preserve ESI maintained in Box as part of litigation or regulatory matter. Additionally, Logikcull’s Culling Intelligence engine categorizes Box documents into smart search filters like languages, email domains, custodians, and document types. Using these smart filters, legal teams can get to the facts of their case and narrow their search to the right documents for review.
