Plug-In by IDrive for Faster Online Database Backup and Restore

IDrive Inc. announced its Express Database Plug-In for IDrive Express.

The service uses a physical drive to ship large amounts of data to a user’s account, eliminating bandwidth usage, which slows upload speed. Targeting businesses that utilize database servers and needing faster backup or restore, the company has released this plug-in to work in association with the service.

The plug-in is available free of charge for business users and works with MS SQL, MS Exchange, and MS SharePoint Server databases. Once a customer requests and receives an IDrive Express drive (up to 3TB), they select the data from their database to add to the physical drive and ship it back to IDrive. It’s then transferred from the device to servers and can be accessed from the customer’s account. This initial data transfer cuts down on the upload time, which could normally take days or weeks with the amount of data stored on most database servers. Users may commence with incremental online backups via the plug-in thereafter.

The service is free three times a year for Pro Business users. After that, it costs $59.95, shipping included.

The service can be utilized for backup or retrieval, up to 3TB, and is available in the US, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Australia and the UK.
